The CliffHanger enduro helmet is the new premium open face model from ABUS. Developed and designed from scratch in close cooperation with team riders such as freeride legend Richie Schley, the helmet addresses the needs of ambitious mountain bikers who have high demands and expectations when it comes to material and equipment. Regardless of whether you are shuttling in Tuscany, shredding single tracks in Slovenia or taking an after-work e-MTB ride – the CliffHanger is a safe companion, both in function and look.
Few years ago, the product development team at ABUS started the task of developing a worthy successor to the successful MonTrailer performance model. The goal: to develop an open face helmet for enduro riders and ambitious singletrack fans as well as a specific small group with the highest demands – their own gravity team. The result is a lightweight but robust helmet with a plus in safety.
Safety has always been crucial to the experts at ABUS. In order to increase it even more, the CliffHanger’s shell has been significantly deepened at the back of the head when compared to the previous model, ensuring extra coverage. For additional stability, the proven Acti-Cage structural reinforcement is integrated into the EPS core.
A helmet with an optimal fit is essential when you are going downhill fast and dynamic: this is ensured by the Zoom-Ace adjustment system, which can be perfectly tailored for individual adjustment. One practical feature carries over from previous models: long hair or a pigtail find their place in the Ponytail Outlet, a gap between the adjustment system and the lower edge of the helmet. The chin strap can be individually adjusted, too, using the newly developed TriVider and is quickly closed thanks to the Fidlock mechanism. Eight ventilation inlets on the front and six outlets on the back provide refreshing air circulation. The helmet’s visor is height adjustable and provides plenty of room for your goggle when in upward position.
Team rider Richie Schley, who was involved in the development of the top model from the start, has plenty of praise for the new helmet: “We have been working on the development of the CliffHanger helmet for three years now and I am totally stoked on how awesome it came out. Looks cool, super lightweight, great airflow and very comfortable. I think we totally nailed it with the colours as well.”
Nine colour options are QUIN ready, so they can be easily updated with the QUIN system. Six further models also feature the well-known MIPS system. Two models are directly equipped with QUIN sensors for crash detection.
The brand new ABUS CliffHanger will be available in stores as of now.
