Danny MacAskill tackles steep rock slabs at home on Isle of Skye

Trials and mountain bike rider Danny MacAskill just released his new video The Slabs and once again amazes us with riding we’ve never seen before. After hitting the Gym about a year ago with his trials bike the Scotsman now opts for the mountain bike and explores new terrain back home in the Cuillins on the Isle of Skye. Inspired by some of the world best climbers and their dedication Danny came up with the idea of hitting some rock slabs himself. Danny takes us on an intense and nerve-wracking ride down the rocky and insanely steep slabs. Awesome drone and POV perspective filmed on GoPro only, offer a fascinating onboard experience.

“It really felt so natural to be up on these faces on the edge of cliffs cycling down completely in control and fully trusting my brakes, my tires and the rest of my bike – and of course myself. It’s all about believing in your own skills and it was a cool experience out there and I really loved the feeling of it.” – Danny MacAskill

Fabio Wibmer looks back on his year 2020

RASOULUTION athlete Fabio Wibmer had a turbulent and action-packed year 2020 and we are more more than happy and proud to have been part of it.

With the announcement of his new bike partner Canyon and their first trials bike as well as his shred trip to Israel in January Fabio already started the past year with a bang. Only to top things during the first Covid-19 lockdown with the most creative edit of the year: Fabio Wibmer – Home Office.

Still anything but tired the Austrian rider surely made best of the year 2020: From trips to France and holidays in Greece, two further video productions for his partners POC and Crankbrothers  and lots of shredding on his home spots.

“What a crazy year this has been! 2020 was one of the coolest but also toughest years for me. Israel is my Playground and Home Office were two of my favorite videos ever and the feedback we got to those videos was mindblowing. The year started great but unfortunately ended with a big crash on my motocross bike. I’m currently recovering from my injury and I can’t wait to do more videos in 2021. Thanks everyone for the love and support. Let’s make 2021 awesome!” – Fabio Wibmer

Erik Fedko: New Year New Bike + Dirtjump Session

New year new bike…that’s the credo of Erik Fedko’s new YouTube video, where he not only presents his new dirt jump beauty but directly puts it to good use. Being half bike-built and half dirt jump video, the first part of the clip focusses on the assembly of Erik’s 2021 Rose The Bruce Dirt Jump bike including the parts from his new partner Title MTB and Industry Nine.

The second part of the video shows Erik doing what Erik does best: Showing his incredible bike skills in the nearby dirt park A42 in Oberhausen.

“The new bike is superb. I am really excited about the new Industry Nine wheels with the extra strong spokes and my all new Title cockpit. After having the bike built yesterday is was a no-brainer to directly hit the dirtpark and try it it out. I am super happy with it!” – Erik Fedko

IT’S OVER….Max Fredriksson’s Perspective on 2020

With “IT’S OVER” Swedish slopestyle ace Max Fredriksson presents his very review of the past year’s events. Despite all the big tragedies and dramas that the year 2020 had to over and – on a much smaller scale – all the restrictions and limitations that came along the Covid-19 pandemic for him personally, Max did not experience only bad things, but focussed on the positive.

Max was able to ride and film at the Åre Bike Festival, participate at the Audi Nines or to compete at Crankworx Innsbruck, where he finished seventh. Also, as a professional athlete Max was used to be traveling all year long. However, 2020 gave him the opportunity to take a step back and concentrate on other things, like spending the summer riding and goofing around with his friends or enjoying more time with his family. For example he’s been riding his home compound as much as never before within the past years and did a big give-away session with his fans.

To sum it up: “The year was horrible in some ways, but at the same time it was really good. It was well needed for myself. I got to step back and really just enjoy summer. I feel like my riding is just getting better and better all the time and I am just having fun instead of being on the road constantly competing.” – Max Fredriksson

Awesome tricks wearing new kicks – Fabio Wibmer puts his new Crankbrothers signature shoes to good use

Austrian bike and YouTube star Fabio Wibmer is known for breathtaking videos packed with spectacular action and finest bike artistry. Whereas Fabio uses different bikes for different occasions, there is only one shoe that connects his foot with his bike. Whether it’s huge jumps on the big bike or sketchy lines with his Trials prototype, Fabio always wears his new Crankbrothers Stamp signature shoe. To see that he already puts it to good use, tune in for the new video “Crankbrothers X Fabio Wibmer: New Shoe Day”:

To present his new kicks Fabio takes us on a street trials tour around his hometown Innsbruck. Kicking off the session at the famous Landhausplatz, he visits his favorite spots around the city showing the finest technical trials riding on his mountain and trials bike, before heading to the nearby Crankworx site to send the contest’s Whip-Off jump a few times and closing the video with his signature handle bar ride after showing an insanely long manual. With shifting settings, bikes, helmets and even clothes, the video only has two constants: Fabio himself and his all new Crankbrothers Stamp Lace White / Fabio Wibmer Edition signature shoe.

“I am super stoked about this shoe and more than happy that there is finally an all-white flat pedal shoe on the market. It’s a perfect allround shoe, that I use for everything that I do on the bike – as you can see in the video.” – Fabio Wibmer

The flat pedal shoe with the clean white look perfectly blends in with the 25-year-old’s style. Being one of four styles of Crankbrothers’ recently launched Stamp Lace model, the shoe’s high-friction rubber compound provides optimal grip and its lug depth absorbs the pins to ensure a secure pedal connection. With an outsole optimized for the Crankbrothers Stamp pedal body, this shoe is the perfect fit for Fabio’s future trials and big bike adventures.

For more information on the Crankbrothers Stamp Lace White / Fabio Wibmer Edition signature shoe please visit: https://int.crankbrothers.com/collections/stamp-shoes/products/stamp-lace?variant=33098538844240

Drop & Roll celebrates Christmas with new trials video

Good news for all Drop & Roll fans out there. Just in time for Christmas, the Drop & Roll crew has an early treat up their sleeve: the release of a new Street Trials video titled “A Trip to the Seaside – Drop and Roll”, starring Danny MacAskill and Duncan Shaw with a few guest appearances from young gun Rory Semple. Together, they ride and explore the Rhyl seafront in Wales. In a year, where live shows turned out to be quite impossible, the Drop & Roll team decided to end of season at least with a small video. Only a few seconds in, you can already feel the combined energy of the riders. Offering close follow lines and the iconic finesse of the D&R athletes, the video never ceases to amaze and guarantees to put a grin on the face of every Trials fan.

The project was originally scheduled to wrap up in one day, but the combination of short winter days and the huge potential for lines at the Rhyl seafront made the crew decide for a second day of shooting. Danny and Duncan, who have already been staying in Wales for a couple of weeks now, caught themselves reminiscing about the seaside town spots multiple times already. A friend then showed them pictures of the Rhyl seafront, which seemed to offer countless lines and obstacles and the video idea began to take shape.

During their trip, Danny and Duncan are accompanied by young shredder Rory Semple, who’s riding transcends his age and he gladly took the chance to prove himself with a guest appearance in the video.

Back in the days, Danny and Duncan used to film some spectacular GoPro follow lines that amazed fans all around the world and had them asking for more. Now, right before Christmas, that wish comes true, as the new video features breathtaking follow cam trains by the two bike artists. Those trains were the scenes that were most difficult to film and took the most attempts, too. Adding a second rider to the mix quickly elevates the difficulty of a line and timing becomes key. You can’t lose framing on the rider in front of you and you have to keep your camera steady while mastering the same line. The overall hardest trick in the video is the front flip down a set of stairs by Danny MacAskill.

“Myself and Duncan shot some GoPro follow cam lines a while back and ever since then, we really wanted to try some more on some bigger stuff, so it was cool to find some big lines to try it on” – Danny MacAskill

The five and half minutes long video not only shows some of the best Trials riding out there, it also conveys the typical feeling of passion and humor which makes for the iconic MacAskill flair. The crew is already looking forward to similar projects in the near future!

For a deeper look behind the scenes of the video’s production tune in for the live Q&A with Danny and Duncan on the Instagram channel of the Drop and Roll Tour and Danny MacAskill tomorrow evening at 8 p.m. CET.

Gabriel Wibmer – Flipping Out Downhill

In challenging times, 18-year-old Gabriel Wibmer doesn’t let the ceiling come and crash down on him. Instead, he grabs his Downhill bike, mounts it on his quad and heads out to ride his home trail, but with a Freeride approach. Surrounded by peaceful mountains, the young East Tyrolean really steps on the gas and pushes the limits to deliver another action-packed video. The clip reaches its climax with a backflip, for which Gabriel uses a tree as a launch pad.

Gabriel Wibmer:

The highlight of the video was definitely the tree backflip. It was pretty cool, especially because we didn’t know in advance whether it would work out with the downhill bike. We were really surprised how well it actually went. We needed about 25 attempts, which is pretty little. It didn’t feel right from the beginning to ride against a tree and pull a flip, but after a few attempts it looked like a backflip and felt like one. I had one or two crashes, but nothing serious and it’s always fun to have something like that on camera.”

Gabriel enjoyed the time on his big bike and is stoked about filming on his local trail:

Overall, I wanted to make a video on my home trail for a long time already and I think in the current time, it was the perfect opportunity. It was just amazing to go out into nature, have fun on the bike and do some cool filming.“

Gravity Card celebrates its most successful season to date!

The mountain bike business is booming! It’s not only the increasing bike sales, which tend to test the capacities of the factories, are a strong indicator for the bike boom. The Gravity Card is celebrating the end of the bike season with a new visitor’s record. The reasons for this success are, on one hand, the ongoing developments of bike parks like for example Schladming or Brandnertal, but also, on the other hand, the expansion of the Gravity Card’s offer towards Enduro. The Covid-19 special regulation for this season, which included a return and refund option, was hardly used despite the relatively short season.

For the upcoming season, the Gravity Card welcomes a new bike park to its roster: The Bike Areal Kitzski is suited for all riding levels and keeps expanding the already highly diverse trail offer, which puts the Gravity Card network at 22 bike parks – amongst our clients Saalfleden Leogang, Bike Kingdom Lenzerheide and Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis.

The record number of visitors to the Gravity Card bike parks was not the only thing to be celebrated though. With the highest number of sales within one season, the Gravity Card seems to be on a roll. The special regulation, which was introduced due to the persisting pandemic, offered customers a refund policy in case of closed bike parks and late openings due to Covid-19. However, surprisingly the staggered reimbursement was hardly used at all. The special regulation will remain active in 2021, though, to enable customers to react to any development as flexible as possible.

With a total of 170 trails, spread across more than 20 bike parks and Enduro regions in six countries, the Gravity Card network offered its highest diversity to date. Fast and flowy trails, technical downhill sections and massive jump lines put a smile on the face of any gravity fan. The expanded trail offering of the bike parks, like in Brandnertal and Schladming, where new flow- and jump trails were built, resulted in a boost of ticket sales. Additionally, the constant expansion towards Enduro offers managed to activate a whole new target group.

The new addition for 2021 is the Bike Areal Kitzski in Austria, which will feature more than 20 kilometers of the finest single trails. On offer are the “Fleckalm Trail“, “Bike Trail Hahnenkamm”, “Lisi Osl Trail” and “Gaisberg Trail” and spread from Kitzbühel to Kirchberg and guarantee a great time on two wheels, no matter what age or riding level.

Kornel Grundner, spokesman for the Gravity Parks, also expressed satisfaction: “With a relatively late start into the season, our main goal was to not achieve any losses. But with actions like the Covid-19 special regulation, we wanted to show our customers that we’re prepared for anything. Today we are proud to not only have matched that goal, but rather exceeded it and are now able to celebrate our most successful season ever. This also seems to prove our expansion towards Enduro as the right choice. With the new addition to the Gravity Card roster and the constantly expanding bike parks, we are excited and looking forward to the upcoming season!”

With the Bike Areal Kitzski, the latest addition to the Card, the total number of bike parks and regions within the Gravity Card network rises to 22. The upcoming season pass will be valid from April 3rd 2021 until November 7th 2021. The prices are as follows:

Adults: 519€
Teens: 390€
Kids: 252€

Good news for anyone looking for a special Christmas treat for their favorite biker or themselves: The online sale of the Gravity Card 2021 starts as of December 9th 2020.
